13 Golds at Sommelier Wine Awards 2018

We’re excited that 13 of our producers won gold medals at this year’s Sommelier Wine Awards, with another 34 silver, 21 bronze and 43 commended medals awarded.

The Sommelier Wine Awards may be focused on the On Trade rather than Indie retailers, but they are judged blind by some of the UK’s top wine experts and sommeliers – and any wine that they think is good enough for their wine lists is almost certainly just as deserving of a home in the country’s best wine shops.

Our sister company Bibendum did really well this year picking up the Merchant of the Year gong – well done to them – but we’re really interested in the wines that picked up the medals. The golden wines included Champagne Palmer’s superb Blanc de Blanc NV; Bertie Eden’s biodynamic Chateau Maris La Touge 2014 from Minervois La Liviniere; the Vinemind Riesling 2016, a side project from Some Young Punks’ Col McBryde; and the amazing value Spier Signature Chenin Blanc 2017.
