Global wine production is estimated to be down 5% from last year and much of Europe was marked by adverse climatic conditions. But despite the various challenges, the overall impression of harvest 2016 is one of good – and sometimes even excellent – quality. Simple, strong and to the point, the Old Fashioned harks back to the original American ‘cocktail’ of the early 19th century, based on liquor, water, sugar and bitters.
