Twelve Drinks of Christmas
With just three and a bit weeks to go until Christmas there’s not much time for planning your Christmas festivities. So we’ve put together the 12 Drinks of Christmas, a great cross-section of wines, beers and spirits that will work for a whole host of holiday occasions.
You’ll find the 12 Drinks on page 29 of our Christmas brochure, and here are some of our top tips for Christmas drinking whether it’s Christmas Eve dinner, Boxing Day buffet, or some crafty cocktails on New Year’s Eve.
The perfect dinner party wine – La Chablisienne Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013
A great value Chablis, from one of the region’s leading co-operatives. Elegant and mineral, but with enough ripe fruit to pair with a range of supper dishes, and the perfect partner for a luxury fish pie.
Great for family gatherings – Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone, Les Deux Albions en magnum
From the acclaimed 2015 vintage, we are offering a great value magnum. This co-fermentation of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Clairette is aged for 18 months in concrete vats and the quality of the fruit really shines through. A perfect Christmas Day wine for those who pass on the turkey (!) and will also pair brilliantly with cold meats on Boxing Day.
Martini Action with Jensen’s
We have a host of great gins and vodkas to suit your palate, but we are choosing Jensen’s Bermondsey Dry Gin for our Christmas martini. Conceived by Christian Jensen, an international gin connoisseur, Jensen’s is made to time-honoured recipes, with citrus and juniper the key flavour components.
