Nestled in the Grampians at the southern end of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria where soils date back over 40million years, Mount Langi Ghiran is one of Australia’s most distinguished wine producers.
With a history dating back to the 1870s, there has been plenty of change for this winery but Chief Winemaker Kate Petering has been with the winemaking team for nearly a decade. With experience from working several vintages in Napa, Emilia-Romagna and Cote Rotie, she became the Chief Winemaker in 2012. This region is one of Australia’s coolest and most exiciting regions for Shiraz. The area nestled between Mount Langi and Mount Cole presents a micro-climate that develops intense fruit flavours, tempered with excellent acidity. A view echoed by James Halliday who has given the winery a 5 star rating, describing Mount Langi Ghiran as “A maker of outstanding cool climate peppery Shiraz, crammed with flavour and vinosity.”
