Alois Lageder’s respect for nature and the environment is absolute and far-reaching. The fifth generation of the Lageder family to farm the estate, Alois is a pioneer of biodynamic principals, ensuring that everything that happens on the farm, from the planting of new vines to the exact time of harvest, is guided by the forces of nature. The beautiful Alto Adige region, complete with picture postcard alpine views, is the perfect setting for these mystical but very specific processes such as the use of natural sprays to prevent disease. The winery is gravity fed to ensure a smooth passage for the grapes and is now also carbon neutral. The health and quality of the grapes shines through in the wines which possess a depth and purity and almost ethereal nature. Varietal wines such as Pinot Grigio and Gewurztraminer are classic, full of fruit and power yet retain a softness and elegance that is benchmark Lageder.
