Deeply rooted in the soils of Mendoza at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Bodega Argento produces vibrant, elegant, fruit-driven wines packed with character, that embody the essence of modern Argentina. Their high-altitude vineyards, desert-like climate and natural irrigation from Andean snow melt create the perfect conditions to produce world-class grapes.
The Mediterranean-style winery is situated in Cruz de Piedra, Maipu, built in 1970 by architect ‘Chicho’ Pitela. Surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, and overlooking the mountain ranges, it is here that head winemaker Juan Pablo Murgia seeks to express an extremely elegant and fruit-forward Malbec, alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Franc too. Juan Pablo was born in Mendoza, and inherited his passion for high quality grapes from his family.
Proudly holding the title of Mendoza’s largest organic producer, Argento have 305ha of certified organic vineyards, and over the coming years plan on increasing that to 379ha. The growth of organics between 2017 and 2018 was rather remarkable – growing from only 22.5ha of certified organic land. Sustainability is key, from recycled glass to specialist water treatments, and has been one of the producer’s top priorities since it began in 1998.
