If you’re coming to this year’s London Wine Fair, you definitely shouldn’t miss out on our fine wine preview. We’ve selected a variety of wines from some of the world’s most expressive terroirs, crafted by producers at the forefront of great modern winemaking.

La Follette – North Coast Chardonnay 2013
California
Greg La Follette is one of California’s most accomplished winemakers, with a vision that “science, when coupled with passion, can produce extraordinary art”. He works closely with carefully-selected growing partners from cool-climate Sonoma and Mendocino, to ensure the very highest expression of terroir.
La Follette’s cool-climate North Coast Chardonnay has complex layers of brioche, lemon curd and citrus rounded off with a hint of toast.
Stratus – Charles Baker Riesling 2012
Canada
Winemaker JL Groux is renowned for his passion for creating distinctive wines based on the principle of assemblage – the art of combining several different grape varieties to produce a complex expression of a vineyard’s terroir. The vineyards are situated in close proximity to the moderating effects of Lake Ontario and the Niagara River, in winter frost fans are used to raise the air temperature ensuring the ongoing health of their vines.
The Charles Baker Riesling has delicious flavours of green apples, elderflower and juicy mandarin, with a bright citrus punch and solid backbone of minerality.
Bulgarini – Lugana DOC 2015
Lombardy
The Bulgarini family have been making wine in Lugana since 1930. The third generation of the family now looks after these 40 hectares of vines, which occupy the fertile clay soils by Lake Garda, as well as the calcium and mineral-rich soils of the Morainic hills.
The Bulgarini Lugana has aromatic flavours of peach and apricot supported by a tight structure and a long, slightly almond-edged finish.
Vina Ventisquero – Vertice 2011
Central Valley, Chile
Established in 2000 by Don Gonzalo Vial, Vina Ventisquero has quickly established a strong footprint in the Andes, with vineyards in located in four key regions.
Produced by winemakers, Felipe Tosso and John Duval, Vertice takes its name from the highest point of La Roblería Vineyard in Apalta Valley, where two distinctive blocks converge forming a vertex.
A blend of Carménère from Block 23 and Syrah from Block 25, the 2011 Vertice was awarded the Best Chilean Blend Trophy and Gold medal by Decanter World Wine Awards.
Bodegas Cosme Palacio – Reserva Tinto 2010
Rioja Alavesa, Spain
A historic winery founded in 1894, Bodegas Cosme Palacio today has a reputation for producing Rioja in a modern and fruit focused style. Winemaker Roberto Rodriguez has forged long-standing relationships with a handful of growers in the region, who produce consistently high quality fruit for the Cosme Palacio range.
Benefitting from 18 months in barrel, followed by 36 months in bottle, the Reserva Tinto 2010 is beautifully balanced. Ripe black fruits meld with an elegant minerality.
