Situated to the south west of Bergerac on the slopes of Saussignac lies the beautiful estate of Chateau des Eyssards. Owned by Pascal Cuisset, the estate is planted with around 20 hectares of red grapes; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and 28 hectares of white grapes; predominantly Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Pascal is a firm believer that hard work in the vineyard pays off in the winery and he even drafts in help from the whole family to ensure that the vines are well looked after. Winemaking is traditional and as hands-off as possible and the resulting wines are supple, smooth and laden with fruit and as ever from this region, offer fantastic value.
