Piccini

The Piccini family were Tuscan farmers when in 1882 Angiolo Piccini bought a small plot of seven hectares to produce the first ever Piccini Chianti in straw-wrapped fiaschi. Fast forward four generations to brother and sister team Mario and Martina and Piccini has become one of the best loved names in Chianti. The family now owns four estates, most recently purchasing a villa at Valiano and recent years have seen them branch out to the production of more esoteric wines and styles. After a winemaking stint in Argentina and Bordeaux, winemaker Antonella Conti returned to her native Tuscany to grapple with the sensitive Sangiovese, a grape which she believes is the perfect expression of the terroir of the region. The family’s passion is still as strong today as it was over 130 years ago and they have a best-selling Chianti range to prove it.
